Cabriolet Window Problem

#1 Post by Kriss707 » Fri Jan 12, 2018 7:38 pm

Hi All
The Drivers side electric front window on my Cabbie keeps dropping out the runners.
It's like the motor doesn't stop when it hits the stop on the arm.
I'm sure I read somewhere how to re-set the position, but I can't find the thread.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Do you mean that the glass is loose in the regulator, or in other words coming adrift from the white clips? There are numerous threads on that subject if you do a search.

No, the motor is continuing past the stop point of the saw teeth on the motor mechanism. I've changed the mechanism, as it was damaged from continuously going past the stop, and the regulator box in the door.

When I bought the car I wondered why there was a length of 2x2 in the bottom of the door, I removed it, then we went out one day put the window down and it didn't come back up.

I did read about it on here but I can't find the thread.

I think you will need some one with the electrical o/haul manual and that I haven't got.

I will have a shufti in the wk shp manual anyway.

I did wonder if there would be a micro sw that cut the motor out when the regulator reaches the bottom of it's travel; would appear not to be the case. There is however a 'Window Lift Control Unit' located within the passenger door. I have no test data.

Cabriolet Door Glass Adj [service repair 76.31.04]

1] Hood raised; fully raise the glass, close door.

2] Measure Gap top edge of glass to hood = 3mm

3] To adjust: remove door card

4] locate adj' hole and cut hole in plastic sheet

5] lower glass slightly until adjustment cam aligns with the hole

6] slaken adj' cam locknut & rotate cam to adjust glass height clearance at [2]

7] after achieving the correct clearance at [2] tighten locknut & reassemble.

Somebody has a copy of the Electrical Test Manual AKM 7215 I wonder if they would be prepared to run off at least one copy? :angel

****UPDATE*****

Thankyou for your reply.

Window fixed.

I removed the regulator box and the window mechanism from my spares dept Cabby. I disconnected them in the fully down position and simply fitted in my door and hey presto success.

When I attempted, and failed before, I replaced just the mechanism, then when it still didn't work I changed the regulator. I wonder if they remember the position when disconnected and if connected to another unit it assumes it's in the same position on a timed drop, possiblely. Either that or previous units were also faulty and I'm overthinking it !

Hope I've explained it so it may help someone else.
