I think that the suspension is standard R8; it's just the f/wings & possibly the windscreen that are different.

For the fronts, all the after-market springs up to the 1.6 SOHC Honda engine are the same. The 216GTi (twin cam) springs and the 1.8D and 2.0L springs are stiffer and will be a different after-market part-code.

The rear springs are the same across the board, as the rear end of an R8 doesn't differ very much in terms of weight distribution WRT the body type, engine size, etc.

I have a full set of 4 Metzger springs that remain the second-most expensive ones still for sale anywhere. Bought for an SOHC Honda standard car but have a compatibility list that includes the coupe. Cost me £160 but open to offers. Was thinking about keeping them as spares, and still might...

Do the later rover 200 series (RF) springs fit on the XW coupe ? I may be able to find springs for that car over here , but for my coupe there is absolutely nothing.

The R3 (RF) front end suspension is identical to the R8 (XW) front end, and I'd imagine the engine weights are "similar" - although the K series was lighter than the Honda D16. So I'd say have a look around the 1.6 and 1.8 engine sizes but probably not the diesel.

Depends how you're going to get hold of the springs though - if you're buying from a retailer brand new, you should be able to get hold of a compatibility list of all cars the parts will fit and it will probably include the XW and RF models if they are front springs. The rear end of a 200/25 is very different to the R8 (XW) - but - the rear end of a Rover 400/45 (HHR) IS the same as an XW, so if you want rears - look at this car.

I want to upgrade to aftermarket sports springs, the only ones i can find here are listed for the later model. They come as a kit - front and rear.

Mm. I think you need to take some advice from the retailer - maybe someone else on this forum can comment on compatibility... but the rear end of an RF (R3) is a torsion H beam arrangement and has nothing to do with the Honda-derived rear end on a coupe. I'd be a bit worried myself, buying a full set and expecting them to fit.

Plenty on Ebay, e.g.: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ta-Technix-L ... 1428264420

This seller is in Germany and is prepared to ship to the UK, so they'll probably ship to you too.

Be extra careful with buying springs from Germany. I recently bought a full set for a friend who has a 400GSI HHR.I checked the numbers on the shocks against every internet source giving HHR model-fitting information before buying.
CARTUNINGPOINT were the sellers.
The springs arrived in good time but they were far too large to fit the lower cups on the Bilstein shocks. I emailed the seller before making an official complaint to eBay explaining the situation but the only response that I got was them sending me the address of an individual in Germany not a business address and no return postage label. Reading his listing carefully there is an option to tick a box marked no returns accepted and I believe also something about buyer is responsible for return postage. They had made the mistake sending me the wrong shocks and pictures to the seller and eBay proved it.

I started an official complaint supplying them with photos which also showed that the number on the shocks sent to me was not the same as their listing and also the springs in their listing were blue and the ones sent to me were bright ORANGE.
Ater three weeks ebay refunded me and a month later I still have the shocks which I have tentatively listed on eBay.
I dont necessarily blame the seller if they have been given misinformation by their supplier as to what part number on the shocks fit what model car but it was their responsibility to refund me plus return postage not mine.
I ended up buying a set of eBay Pi springs for my friend, with which he is very pleased but I was out of pocket for two weeks until I got the eBay refund.

Which ones did you go for?
I have a 216 coupe and after new shocks looks a bit like Bambi - I was going to for ZR\ZS springs as I want to lower mine slighlty
